Lamoille Autumn
This may be the last fine art landscape photograph of beautiful Lamoille Canyon's famous aspen forests. (See addendum below).
Gouged out by ancient glaciers, Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountains is a gem. Streams altered by beaver ponds and year-round water freshen the landscape and welcome hikers and hunters. Vigorous aspen and cottonwoods offer rich color in the fall. The peaks are all well above 10,000 feet and inspire positivity to visitors. Elko County residents can be proud of their beautiful Rubies.
Addendum: The Range Two Fire burned in the Ruby Mountains near Elko and tore over multiple ridge lines and quickly consumed approximately 5,000 acres after starting on Sunday, September 30, 2018. The wind drove flames into Lamoille Canyon, scorching the popular recreation area from "bottom to top," according to Erica Hupp, public information officer for the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. This is indeed a sad event that will not be restored for well over 100 years.
