January sunrise, Bryce Canyon, Utah

This phenomenal national park draws millions of visitors from around the world, all year long. I've altered my chosen times to visit some of the most scenic public parks due to such crowds. So I now seek them out during the off-season times. That translates into 'worst weather of the year' to most people. To me, it's the best. I always say: 'the worse the weather, the better the pictures.' And so it was on this visit to Bryce and one of the most popular overlooks in the park. The weather was around 5 degrees F and new snow had fallen to about 2 feet in depth at the rim. Perfect for me. I had the overlook all to myself for over an hour at sunrise - not another soul could be seen. It was a magical moment and I felt almost as if I were in church, with a reverent peace prevailing and a soul-enriching experience to see what God had created for me that day. I give thanks for every day I have eyes and legs and can draw a breath.
